  • Hi Anneshelly! So what are you studying?

Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

  • Why did you choose to study in Australia?

When I was 15, I made the decision to study high school in Australia. When people ask me why I chose Australia, I often mention that it felt closer to home since it’s only an 8-hour flight and has a time difference of just 2 hours ahead of Taiwan. But to be completely honest, I also believe it was meant to be.

  • What made you decide to study in Sydney?

I didn’t give myself too many options when applying to universities. Fortunately, I was accepted by The University of Sydney, which was my top choice.

  • What is your favourite thing about being a student?

You get a lot of student discounts!

  • What is your favourite thing to do when you are not studying?

I often read and watch Netflix if I don’t feel like going out. I also love participating in Iglu events, the more the merrier!

  • What is your favourite thing about Iglu?

I love the staff and RLs! They are always kind and friendly. My second favourite is the brekkie we get each morning!

  • Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

In five years, I want to be rocking it as a skilled vet, handling my professional responsibilities like a pro while still having a great work-life balance. Life’s all about excelling in both career and personal goals!

  • And last but not least, what words of wisdom would you pass on to future Iglu residents?

Stay gritty! You never know what you can achieve if you don’t try hard enough. As I learnt from one of the TED talks by Amy Cuddy — “Fake it until you become it.”
